  • Lead electromagnetic compatibility engineering for Power Electronics & Traction Inverter hardware from concept through production
  • Define EMC design strategies, requirements decomposition, risk assessments, design development, peer reviews, and validation planning
  • Define design best practices for system-level interactions between component EMC performance and vehicle-level EMC requirements
  • Develop and apply electromagnetic models and analysis methods for coupling paths, resonances, common-mode and differential-mode behavior, shielding, grounding, and emissions
  • Guide hardware design decisions involving power modules, busbars, laminated interconnects, gate drives, PCBs, enclosures, filters, shielding, grounding, cables, and connectors
  • Lead EMC mitigation activities while balancing electrical, thermal, packaging, manufacturing, reliability, cost, and timing considerations
  • Develop EMC load boxes and EMC test plans per GMW

  • Schedule, execute, and document traction-inverter EMC testing
  • Lead PRTS closure and root-cause investigations for EMI and susceptibility issues using measurements, simulation, design-of-experiments, and engineering judgment
  • Establish countermeasures and confirm effectiveness through testing and model-to-bench, dynamometer, and vehicle correlation
  • Maintain an EMC operating-mode tracker covering charging, driving, V2L/V2G, AC/DC charging, inverter operation, and simultaneous APM/OBCM operation
  • Support EMC debugging for combined operation and resolve vehicle-to-vehicle EMC variation
  • Partner with design release engineering, controls and software, electrical architecture, vehicle integration, validation, reliability, manufacturing, purchasing, and supplier engineering teams
  • Provide technical direction to suppliers and evaluate supplier EMC capability, analyses, test plans, design evidence, and corrective actions
  • Review and approve EMC requirements, specifications, test plans, load boxes, drawings, reports, procedures, and design changes
  • Create reusable EMC guidelines, checklists, modeling practices, and lessons learned
  • Own EMC non-compliance related to OBCM components and AC charging systems; lead OBCM troubleshooting and scheduling with the vehicle EMC team
  • Communicate technical risks, decisions, trade-offs, and recommendations to engineering and program leadership
  • Mentor engineers and raise organizational capability in power-electronics EMC design and troubleshooting
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related discipline
  • 8+ years of relevant hands‑on hardware experience with high‑voltage power electronics, AC/DC and DC/DC converters, inverters, or electric‑drive systems
  • Strong expertise in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), including high‑voltage AC conducted emissions, radiated emission compliance, electromagnetic immunity/susceptibility, common‑mode and differential‑mode noise suppression, grounding, shielding, filtering, impedance, and signal/power integrity analysis
  • Significant experience designing, analyzing, or validating EMC performance for power electronics, electric drives, traction inverters, converters, or similar high‑power systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in electromagnetic interference and susceptibility mechanisms
  • Experience with EMC modeling, simulation, or analytical methods and correlating predictions with laboratory and vehicle‑level measurements
  • Strong understanding of high‑voltage power‑electronics hardware, including switching devices, power modules, gate drives, bus structures, printed circuit boards, and traction‑inverter packaging
  • Experience planning, executing, or interpreting EMC testing and resolving failures through data‑driven root‑cause analysis
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional technical decisions and influence internal teams and suppliers without direct authority
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel periodically to supplier, test, and vehicle‑development locations
  • Must not require GM immigration sponsorship now or in the future, including H‑1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J‑1, or other immigration support
  • Preferred:
