- Execute substation physical and/or protection and control projects
- Perform quality control checks on substation physical and/or P&C design projects
- Read and design one-line drawings, three-line drawings, schematics, wiring, plan-section drawings, conduit drawings, and grounding drawings
- Create and check bills of materials for substation physical and/or P&C projects
- Provide complete project lifecycle support from scoping through final design and implementation
- Apply National Electrical Safety Code requirements to design processes
- Work with client standards to implement designs
- Collaborate with designers/drafters to create required project drawings
- Support construction activities
- Attend occasional customer-site visits
- Visit the Framingham Leidos office occasionally for team collaboration
- Work as part of a design team comprising engineers, designers, and CAD technicians
- Maintain project quality, scope, schedule, budget, and safe-work compliance
- Candidates must be located in the client servicing territory of Michigan, Ohio, or Indiana
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and in office as needed
- Lead Level: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or related degree with four (4+) or more years of related substation design experience
- Senior & Principal Level: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or related degree with eight (8+) or more years of related substation design experience
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with the internal team and clients
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure situations
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Strong analytical skills and proven problem‑solving ability
- Engineer Intern ("EI" or "EIT") professional certification (additional)
- Professional Engineer ("PE") License (additional)
- Working knowledge of protection and control design
- Experience with bus calculation
- Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies
- Experience with AC and DC calculations
- Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS
- Experience working on CAD tools
- Master's degree in related field (additional)
- Field testing/commissioning experience (additional)
- Must comply with quality control and safe work practices
- Must maintain compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget
Demonstrates expertise in substation design, including protection and control systems, while ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Safety Code. Proven ability to manage project lifecycle, collaborate effectively with teams, and maintain quality and safety standards.
