Speech Pathologist
Center for Developmentally Disabled (CDD) / Rainbow Center is a private, not-for-profit corporation founded in 1972. CDD provides residential care services, day habilitation to adults with developmental disabilities and private separate school for children ages 3-21 with communicative and developmental disabilities, in the greater Kansas City, MO area.

Summary/ObjectiveThe Speech Language Pathologist position will assess and provide interventions for students with language disabilities, articulation deficits, dysfluencies, and voice disorders. Therapists will collaborate with and provide education to staff and other professionals as needed to support student interventions and facilitate communication skills across school settings.
Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Develop appropriate programming and therapeutic interventions for children with special developmental and behavioral needs.
- Provide creative, self-esteem building activities through all modalities, appropriate for all ages with individual needs considered with emphasis in speech and language therapeutic needs. (Provide appropriate, student-centered activities that consider a variety of communication modalities with emphasis on functional communication and therapeutic needs.
- Develop and implement efficient and effective teaching and therapy techniques.
- Develop and implement daily schedule cooperatively with other staff members.
- Collect data on daily or periodic basis for service accountability, progress monitoring, and determining success therapeutic methods and techniques.
- Maintain room cleanliness, orderliness, and storage of materials and equipment.
- Develop goals and objectives for students Individualized Education Programs. Provide evaluations and documentation reports as required. Provide for review and update of progress report cards quarterly.
- Participate in in-service, staffing and parent/teacher meetings as requested.
- Participate with administrator in annual personal evaluation.
- Adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the staff handbook and policies & procedures manual.
- Maintain required licensures and certifications.
- Attend required training classes and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a school setting with exposure to high levels of noise, human elements such as (blood, urine, etc.); frequent interruptions and fast-paced working conditions. In this role standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines are routinely used.
Physical DemandsWorks in a school setting for students with developmental disabilities. Must meet the minimum physical requirements of the job as described in the pre-employment and annual physical.
Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position with core hours of work 8:00AM-3:30PM

Required Education And/or ExperienceSuccessful completion of a Speech Language Pathology Program from an accredited university. Must be currently licensed in the state of Missouri and hold ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence.
