Job Type: Part-time, Dispatch-Based Contract
We are seeking an experienced Smart Hands Network Engineer to support dispatch-based onsite enterprise network infrastructure projects across Missouri. The primary focus of this role is the installation, replacement, and validation of Cisco and other enterprise network switches while working alongside remote network engineering teams.
Responsibilities- Install, replace, and decommission enterprise network switches and related hardware.
- Perform rack and stack of switches, routers, and network appliances.
- Mount and secure equipment in racks according to implementation plans.
- Install, trace, label, and verify copper and fiber network cabling.
- Install and verify SFP modules, fiber patch cords, and Ethernet patch cords.
- Connect to network devices using a console cable for initial access and validation.
- Replace failed network hardware and support network refresh and migration projects.
- Follow implementation plans and work closely with remote network engineering teams.
- Perform basic network connectivity checks and hardware troubleshooting.
- Document completed work, including serial numbers, photos, and installation reports.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment while adhering to client procedures.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco or other enterprise networking equipment.
- Experience performing rack & stack, switch installation, and structured cabling.
- Familiarity with console access, switch deployment, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and follow implementation plans, rack elevations, and network diagrams.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in an onsite, dispatch-based environment.
- Ability to travel to client sites within Missouri as required.
- Ability to lift and install networking equipment as required.
