Responsibilities
Three Trails Behavioral Hospital in the area of Independence, MO is actively hiring an Infection Control Nurse/Nurse Educator. This position is responsible for coordinating the hospital's Infection Prevention and Control Program while providing leadership in staff education, competency development, and clinical training initiatives.
The name Three Trails was selected to honor the historical significance of the city of Independence as the starting point for the Santa Fe, Oregon and California Trails. The logo icon is a compass, which is symbolic of way finding, and metaphorically the personal journey to recovery.
The Groundbreaking for the new hospital was held in January 2025. Beam topping was held in July 2025. The facility is expected to open in the second half of 2026.
- Coordinates and maintains the Infection Prevention and Control Program in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Investigates infection control concerns and recommends corrective actions as appropriate.
- Provides infection prevention education and guidance to staff, patients, and visitors.
- Ensures compliance with CDC, CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA, and state regulatory requirements.
- Plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates nursing education and staff development programs.
- Facilitates new employee orientation, annual competencies, and mandatory education requirements.
- Serves as a clinical resource and consultant to nursing and interdisciplinary staff.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required.
- Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, infection prevention, staff development, or quality management preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control principles, adult learning methodologies, and regulatory standards preferred.
