Responsibilities
Three Trails Behavioral Hospital in Independence, MO is hiring an experienced and compassionate Nurse Manager. This position is responsible for overseeing daily nursing operations, promoting exceptional patient care, supporting staff development, and ensuring compliance with all standards.
The name Three Trails honors the historical significance of Independence as the starting point for the Santa Fe, Oregon, and California Trails. The logo icon is a compass, symbolizing way finding and the personal journey to recovery.
The groundbreaking for the new hospital was held in January 2025. Beam topping was held in July 2025. The facility is expected to open in the second half of 2026.
The Nurse Manager will:
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership and supervision of nursing staff.
- Promote a culture of patient safety, quality care, and service excellence.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, retention, and performance management of nursing personnel.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor staffing levels and support efficient resource utilization.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance enhancement activities.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for nursing staff while supporting professional growth and development.
- Serve children, adolescents, adults, and seniors with innovative and evidence‑based inpatient behavioral healthcare focused on individual needs and comfort.
- Create more than 200 new, full‑time jobs including nurses, clinicians, therapists, technicians, and administrative staff when the facility is fully operational.
- Be located at the intersection of I‑70 and Little Blue Parkway, adjacent to the Children’s Mercy Hospital Outpatient Clinics.
- Feature 120 licensed beds to meet the mental health needs of the surrounding community.

- Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri (or eligible for licensure).
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years of behavioral health nursing experience preferred.
