RN- Procedure & Call Center

Digestive Care Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to work in our Endoscopy and Call Center. While working in the endoscopy center the nurse provides nursing care to patients during procedures and recovery through physician's orders and according with recognized nursing techniques and established policies and procedures. While working in the call center, the nurse provides patient care assistance through phone calls and the completion of tasks from physicians and nurse practitioners.

• Registered Nurse with license in active good standing.
• BLS Certification required within 6 months of hire.
• ACLS Certification required or obtained within 6 months.
• Maintains current ACLS certification.
• Membership in local, state and national professional organizations encouraged.

• Collect patient history and medication reconciliation, obtain appropriate procedure consents and complete data entry.
• Provide patient education and validate patient/family understanding of procedure and discharge instructions.
• Complete intra procedure patient assessment and promotes optimal patient environment.
• Document ongoing assessment of patient during procedure and recovery.
• Anticipate patient and physician needs.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all basic nursing skills, including ability to start I.V.s and medication administration.
• Demonstrates knowledge of endoscopic procedures.
• Accurately enters information in electronic medical record.

• Accepts all phone calls from patients, ancillary providers and hospitals including prep calls, medication questions, symptoms, clinical questions, progress reports and more. Redirects calls if appropriate.
• Provides lab and radiology departments with diagnosis and ICD-10 codes.
• Provides patients with X-ray, test and lab work results as directed by providers.
• Follows call management protocol and other protocols developed by physicians and staff appropriately.
  
  Efficiently schedules patient X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, Manometry, 24-hour PH, Paracentesis, Liver biopsies, lab work & tests as ordered by providers.
• Schedules patients in appropriate facility in order for patient to receive maximum insurance coverage and reimbursement.
• Coordinates scheduling of procedures with scheduling department.
• Completes referrals to physicians & ancillary providers for consults and follow up.
• Calls in prescriptions (new and refills) including paperwork required for processing.
• Places recalls in gMed from hospital face sheets.

This position is Monday-Friday. No nights or weekends.
