Part‑time Spanish Language Support Specialist – $18.27–$28.94 per hour – In‑office / On‑site. Flexible working hours Monday–Friday 5:30 am–6:00 pm. Employment may be converted to a career‑service position at a later date.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Utah National Guard seeks multiple Spanish Language Support Specialists at the Utah Translation & Analysis Center (UTAC) located at Camp Williams and Orem, UT.
Job DescriptionAs a Spanish Language Support Specialist, you will listen to Spanish language sources and provide precise word‑processing transcriptions in Spanish. Transcriptions will be translated into English while meeting legal, law‑enforcement, and security‑sensitive requirements. You will use computer equipment and associated software to receive assignments and process work products. Your work must meet stringent standards for legal, law‑enforcement, and security‑sensitive applications, and employment is contingent upon background checks and clearance.
Qualifications- Proficient in Spanish language.
- Proficient in English language.
- Possesses a DoD SECRET security clearance.
- T2S2 Transcription/Translation Certification.
- College degree in Spanish Translation.
- Spanish language/translation certification from an accredited entity.
- Proficiency in additional languages.
- DoD SECRET security clearance.
- Design proposed output formats and monitor output for information accuracy.
- Translate spoken and/or written materials from one language to another.
- Write or draft correspondence, reports, documents, and/or other written materials.
- Record and/or transcribe minutes of meetings, hearings, dictation, dialogue, and produce documents in draft or final format.
- Review and inspect work for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Enter data into a computer system and retrieve, correct, or delete previously entered data.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance.
- Part‑time position working less than 30 hours per week. This position is not a career‑service position but may be converted later.
- Typical office setting with adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation. Safe use of office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observation of fire regulations are required.
- Employee may sit comfortably to perform work; some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and driving may be required. No special physical demands are required.
