Maintenance Technician (Multicraft – Mechanical & Electrical)
This multicraft maintenance role combines both mechanical and electrical responsibilities in a high-volume manufacturing environment. You will troubleshoot and repair a wide range of production equipment, support preventive maintenance programs, and help keep critical systems running safely and efficiently. The position involves hands-on work with stamping presses, injection molding machines, robotics, PLCs, and automated assembly lines, while using modern tools such as a laptop and a computerized maintenance management system to document and track work.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues on a variety of production equipment, including stamping presses, injection molding machines, automated assembly lines, conveyors, molding equipment, and rubber mixing machinery.
- Work with PLC-controlled equipment, including Mitsubishi PLCs, to identify and resolve control and automation problems using laptop-based diagnostic tools and PLC troubleshooting techniques.
- Troubleshoot and repair 6-axis industrial robots, including Fanuc, Yamaha, and Mitsubishi robots, as well as other automated systems used in the manufacturing process.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on boilers and air compressors to ensure reliable operation and compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to receive, complete, and document work orders, including recording parts used, labor time, and detailed notes on repairs.
- Follow and execute a preventive maintenance (PM) schedule to reduce downtime, extend equipment life, and support continuous production.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, hoses, and related components.
- Maintain and repair pumps, motors, conveyor systems, and gearboxes, including mechanical disassembly, replacement of worn components, and reassembly and alignment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and technical documentation to support accurate and efficient troubleshooting and repairs.
- Work with electrical systems including 24V and 208V AC/DC, and support work on 480V and 3-phase systems as needed, following all safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements.
- Perform industrial electrical troubleshooting on motors, motor controls, PLC control circuits, sensors, and related equipment to restore proper operation.
- Apply welding and basic fabrication skills, when needed, to repair or modify equipment components, brackets, and guards in a safe and functional manner.
- Implement and follow safety procedures, including use of arc flash uniforms, lockout/tagout practices, and other plant safety policies.
- Collaborate with other maintenance technicians, production personnel, and contractors to prioritize work, reduce downtime, and support production goals.
- Participate in training and skills development programs designed to support progression through maintenance levels and eligibility for performance-based increases.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues, suggesting improvements to equipment or processes, and helping implement long-term solutions.
- At least 2–3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (experience must not be limited to distribution settings).
- Proven experience performing both mechanical and electrical troubleshooting on industrial equipment.
- Hands-on experience working with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic components.
- Hands-on experience working with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair of pneumatic components.
- Experience maintaining and repairing pumps, conveyors, motors, and gearboxes in an industrial setting.
- PLC troubleshooting experience, specifically with Mitsubishi PLCs or similar PLC platforms.
- Experience working with 24V and 208V AC/DC electrical systems; exposure to 480V and 3-phase systems is considered a strong plus.
