Theatre Technical Coordinator

The Theatre Technical Coordinator will work under the direction of the Director of Production and will coordinate the installing and operation of the lighting. props, audio, videol and rigging for theatre, dance, music, film, and more. Construct and assemble staging for theatre and film. Oversee the building, painting, repair of existing scenic elements and props as well as building from scratch, operate livestream video equipment.

• Coordinate with directors, designers, and production staff to interpret production requirements and develop technical plans and assist planning production schedules based on design requirements and available resources, while understanding and adhering to theatre practices, and safety standards.
• Maintain inventory of lighting, audio, video, prop and staging equipment. Read and implement lighting plots, stage plots, and scenic ground plans. Assist Production Manager with purchasing for shows and restocking as needed for performance construction and the scenic shop.
• Work with the Production Manager on scheduling crew calls for technical crew to maintain technical equipment. provide stagehand support for performances and events, and for production construction, setup, and strike. Supervise and lead technical crew during production set up and strike, event and show runs, and maintenance projects.
• Managing the video recording, streaming, uploading and archiving of all South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities events. This requires event scheduling on streaming platform, all equipment acquisition, set up and operation during the event.
• Program and operate consoles (lighting and/or sound). Maintain, operate. and troubleshoot technical equipment including lighting, audio and video the general maintenance needs as well as while performing a technical role during a performance or in preparations for a production as staffing needs require.
• Perform other related duties as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Production, Technical Theatre, related field, or equal relevant experience in field.

• Experience in programming and operating consoles (lighting and/or sound).
• Ability to maintain, operate, and troubleshoot technical equipment including lighting, audio, and video.
• Understanding of theatre practices and safety standards.
• Experience in leading a team to accomplish a complete production.
• Ability to work in a physically engaging environment including the ability to lift up to 30 lbs., squat, stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and work at height.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to operate a state vehicle.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and overtime.

• Experience with ETC lighting consoles and digital and analog audio consoles.
• Proficiency in operating live streaming and video equipment, including cameras, switchers, and streaming software.
• Familiarity with projectors and projection mapping techniques for live theatre productions.
• Experience with set construction and design coordination.
