Job Description Summary

The RN II reports to the Ambulatory Services Manager and provides patient‑centered nursing care to pediatric patients and their families within the scope of practice and the nursing process. The RN also serves as the Charge Nurse during After Hours operations, offering leadership and guidance to staff, providers, and patients to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality care.

Job Description

MUSC Children’s After Hours and Specialty Clinics is a pediatric outpatient clinic operating under Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital at MUSC, now opening in the new MUSC Medical Office Building in Bluffton. This location brings pediatric After Hours services to the Bluffton community for the first time. During daytime hours, the facility hosts a wide range of pediatric subspecialists, including pediatric gastroenterology, cardiology, and orthopedics, among others.

We also provide walk‑in After Hours Care, which serves as an extension of the pediatric emergency department to support families during the times when most pediatric practices are closed.

Specialty Clinics

Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

After Hours Clinic
  • Monday–Friday, 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Weekends, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Schedule

This full‑time position consists of two 12‑hour shifts (8:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.), two 8‑hour shifts: 12:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and every other weekend from 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Preference

Charge nurse experience After Hours coverage.

Minimum Requirements

Associate's Degree, and a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
