Berkeley Hall Club is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Maintenance Department. The Technician is responsible for maintaining clubhouse facilities and equipment to Berkeley Hall Club standards, including HVAC upkeep, painting, door and window repairs, and roof and ceiling maintenance. Plumbing, electrical, furniture repairs, refrigeration maintenance and kitchen equipment.
Duties and responsibilities include coordinating the servicing and repairing of systems for lighting, heating, ventilating, fire, drainage, plumbing, electrical, painting and related maintenance activities. Completes regular inspection and servicing of all HVAC units and changes filters as per usual schedule. Performs routine preventive maintenance required by club's PM procedures. Maintains accurate maintenance and repair records of equipment and machinery. Visually inspects rooms, public spaces and back of the house areas to replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, etc.
Ensures that all building maintenance, repair and cleaning activities are identified, scheduled and completed. Inspect property and clear of debris such as downed limbs, trash, and any and all other debris. Check water well for chlorine level in drum, tank level, and record daily water usage. Oversee daily operation of treatment plant and record effluent flow reading. Monitors all areas of the Club and records deficiencies.
Keeps the work shop areas safe, clean and well-lit. Ensures that all refuse is properly removed from the clubhouse and its premises. Responds to emergencies at any time. Collects maintenance and work orders from department heads for approval by the Director of Facilities Maintenance. Ensures a highly efficient safety program with an emphasis on awareness, discipline and compliance; implements an overall safety program that conforms to OSHA standards.
Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Director of Facilities Maintenance.
Physical and environmental requirements include regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
Frequent repetitive motions. Continuous standing and walking.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED required. Post-secondary vocational training in electrical engineering, HVAC or refrigeration preferred. Previous five years or more of maintenance experience in an institutional or business setting. Working knowledge of HVAC, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and painting. Assists other engineering staff with repairs to locks, plumbing fixtures, electrical outlets, minor carpentry work, etc. Reports major repairs to supervisor for correction.
Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
