AltaGas - Production Technician III

Job Overview

Production Technician III reporting to the Production Technician Leader, responsible for all phases of plant operations at Alta Gas's 520 MW natural gas fired Combined Cycle Power Generating Station located in Blythe, California. This is a union position in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47 and requires an individual with exceptional interpersonal skills comfortable working on a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule.

• Preserve the facility’s operational excellence through effective prioritization of operations, promoting a high level of equipment reliability.
• Ensure all Alta Gas compliance, environmental, and safety policies and practices are implemented and adhered to.
• Follow defined processes and procedures to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.
• Perform all actions related to plant operations.
• Assist in daily dispatch of the plant, operating 24/7/365 on a rotating 12‑hour shift basis.
• Perform routine inspections of watch.
• Perform equipment troubleshooting and suggest continuous improvement projects.
• Test equipment to ensure productivity and performance.
• Respect safety standards and maintain a clean work environment.
• Ensure all safety rules and safe work procedures such as Lockout/Tag out, Confined Space, and PPE are followed by self and others.
• Act as a team player by assisting in ad hoc work, both in operations and maintenance as it arises.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Electrical, mechanical, or I&C skills.
• High School or GED required.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience required.
• Control Room Operator experience considered an asset.

• Competitive rate of $47.06 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
