Alta Gas - Production Technician III

Reporting to the Production Technician Leader, the Production Technician III is responsible for all phases of plant operations at the 520 MW natural gas fired combined cycle power generating station located in Blythe, California. This union position is with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 47 and requires an individual with exceptional interpersonal skills who is comfortable working a rotating 12 hour shift schedule.

• Preserve the facility’s operational excellence through effective prioritization of operation, which promotes a high level of equipment reliability.
• Ensure all Alta Gas compliance, environment and safety policies and practices are implemented and adhered to.
• Follow defined processes and procedures to ensure the plant is operating safely and efficiently.
• Perform all actions related to the operations of the plant.
• Assist with the daily dispatch of the plant, operating 24/7/365 on a rotating 12 hour shift basis.
• Perform routine inspections of watch.
• Perform equipment troubleshooting.
• Suggest continuous improvement projects.
• Test equipment to ensure productivity and performance.
• Respect safety standards of the company and maintain a clean work environment.
• Ensure all safety rules and safe work procedures such as Lockout/Tag out, confined space and PPE are followed by themselves and by others working in and around the machinery.
• Act as a team player by assisting in ad hoc work, both in operations and maintenance, as it arises.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Qualified candidates must have electrical, mechanical or I&C skills.
• High School/ GED required.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience required.
• Control Room Operator experience would be considered an asset.
