Purpose:

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading and controlling all production activities within the assigned shift to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. This includes monitoring production processes, enforcing compliance with company standards, and identifying opportunities for process improvements.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Controls and follows the production process, ensuring the accomplishment of production programs/schedule according to products' specifications, customer needs and Tenaris quality standards.
  • Controls procedure compliance alerting deviations from the policy, procedures and specifications.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of procedures and work instructions.
  • Monitors process indicators like productivity, utilization, charge to thousand, interruptions, rejections.
  • Optimizes plant's performance and promotes the compliance of inspection plans and basic preventive maintenance.
  • To comply with HSE procedures, report any incident or observation, perform inspections and participate in the investigation process. Implement the preventive/corrective actions.
  • Keep updated the risk analysis and the environmental aspect assessment.
  • Complies with the energy and other supplies consumption target/goals, carrying out the required actions that aim to reduce the use of them.
  • Complies with Tenaris policies, procedures and management standards, and ensures adherence with all laws and regulations that apply to the area of responsibility.
  • Proactively motivates, coaches, communicates with and develops his/her staff and manages HR related activities in line with Human Resources norms and procedures.
  • Protects from damage, theft or misuse the facilities, equipment and other physical resources assigned to his/her area.

Knowledge

Required:

  • Must already understand raw materials, production flow, quality control, and manufacturing optimization principles before hire.
  • Should enter the role with a working knowledge of leadership, training, and performance management; refined further through experience with company-specific systems.
  • Base understanding of quality systems and HSE required, but Tenaris-specific procedures, codes, and tools (e.g., OPPs, PRDs, TSE, STOP WORK) are learned during onboarding.
  • General mechanical aptitude is expected; detailed machine knowledge and technical knowledge (e.g., ERW Welding process) is required on an intermediate level.
  • Ability to assess production performance, identify problems, and make quick, sound decisions.
  • Requires prior experience interpreting data and process indicators.
  • Strong ability to direct, motivate, and align teams toward goals. Includes task delegation, conflict resolution, and real-time adjustment of priorities.
  • Base understanding of safety rules and quality standards required; mastery of internal HSE, LOTO, and inspection systems gained during training.
