The Systems Group is looking for an energetic individual to be our next HVAC Mobile Supervisor. Systems Cool Air Solutions is seeking an HVAC Supervisor to oversee daily HVAC operations, maintenance, and repair activities within a steel manufacturing environment. This role manages a crew of technicians, coordinates preventive and reactive maintenance schedules, handles administrative paperwork and compliance documentation, and responds to urgent service calls to minimize production downtime in a high-heat, high-dust industrial setting.
HVAC Supervisor ResponsibilitiesCrew & Field Supervision
- Assign, schedule, and supervise daily work for Systems Cool Air Solutions HVAC technicians and helpers across shifts
- Prioritize work orders based on production impact, safety risk, and equipment criticality
- Perform field inspections to verify quality of completed work and adherence to safety procedures
- Train and mentor technicians on system troubleshooting, refrigerant handling, and industrial ventilation equipment
- Respond personally to emergency or escalated service calls, especially those affecting mill operations, control rooms, or critical process cooling
Paperwork & Documentation
- Complete and maintain daily work orders, time sheets, and job logs in the CMMS (computerized maintenance management system)
- Track parts and materials usage, submit purchase requisitions, and manage vendor invoices
- Maintain preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and ensure PM completion documentation is accurate and up to date
- Prepare shift-turnover reports, downtime reports, and monthly maintenance summaries for the General Manager and Sales Director
- Ensure compliance documentation is current, including EPA Section 608 refrigerant handling records, confined space permits, and hot work permits where applicable
- Maintain OSHA-required safety logs and incident reports related to HVAC work
Technical Oversight
- Oversee maintenance and repair of rooftop units, makeup air units, industrial exhaust/ventilation systems, dust collection tie-ins, process cooling systems, control room HVAC, and comfort heating/cooling for office and shop areas
- Support systems tied to furnace areas, mill environments, and other high-heat zones common in steel operations
- Coordinate with electricians, millwrights, and outside contractors on integrated repairs
- Manage spare parts inventory for critical HVAC components to reduce downtime
- Ensure work complies with local codes, refrigerant regulations, and Systems Cool Air Solutions safety standards
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, working-at-heights, and PPE requirements for all HVAC work
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for the crew
- Investigate equipment failures and near-misses; recommend corrective actions
Required
- 5+ years of HVAC/R experience, including 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
