Job Title: Camp Counselor FLSA Status: Part Time/Seasonal
Reports to: Senior Youth Development Director

Schedule Requirements: M/W/F 8:30 am-1:30 pm June 8 - August 14. Must be available for training in May, must commit to at least 8 of the 10‑week sessions.
Position Training dates:
May 16th and May 23rd from 9 AM - 5 PM.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal morning enrichment camp. Creates positive, nurturing relationships with children, while building cooperative relationships with parents/caregivers. Promotes and supports the potential of all youth in programs and facilitates peer‑to‑peer connections as part of the overall camp experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Supervises a group of children ages 3‑12 years old.
- Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values of caring, honesty, resp
- Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship‑building skills in all interactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:- Entry requirements
:
Must be at least 16 years of age with previous experience working with children. Must demonstrate an ability to work well with preschoolers and parents and be fun, energetic, creative and enthusiastic. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. - Requirements as of employment
: YMCA New Staff Orientation, CPR/AED, First Aid certifications, Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, Sexual Harassment, and YMCA Leader training required within 30 days of hire date. All required forms need to be on file prior to first day of work.
