Reports To:

Principal/Special Education Director

• To carry out the goals and objectives of the school.
• Provide each student with optimum opportunities to learn, achieve, grow, and succeed to his/her fullest potential through high academic standards in a safe and controlled environment.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Certification in Special Education
• K-12 Certification preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
• Serves as a role model and works toward the development of good character and desirable attitudes among students
• Must deliver the required curriculum in accordance with the standards expected of a Highly Qualified (HQ) teacher as defined by the Alabama Department of Education Standards for HQ.
• Develop IEP’s
• Develop lesson plans consistent with IEP goals and objectives.
• Adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs and utilize effective teaching techniques that facilitate productive student learning experiences.
• Provide academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and communicative support to students in accordance with IEP’s.
• Evaluate students’ academic and personal growth keeping appropriate records prepare progress reports.
• Maintain records for students assigned to caseload.
• Ensure and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal or Special Education Director.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boaz City Board of Education.
