Job Title: Secondary Choral Teacher

Terms of Employment: 9-Month

Reports To: Principal

• Responsible for instruction to secondary school students in the field/or related field of choral music and creating a safe and orderly learning environment. Develops knowledge, skills, and talents of students in the field of music, utilizing a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to student’s interests and abilities.

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree
• Certification in the appropriate teachingareas
• Must possess an in---depth knowledge of choral music technique andskills
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

• Instructs secondary students in developing knowledge and skills in choral music in accordance with the course ofstudy.
• Directscompleteorganizationandparticipationofstudentsineachchoireventandalldetailsrelatedtosuccessfulpresentations.
• Enables students to develop an appreciation of the art ofmusic.
• Instructs students in general music as well as vocal skills at the secondary level.
• Uses a variety of instructional techniques and musical repertoire appropriate for the ages and skill level of students.
• Arranges opportunities for students to present musical performances and competitions both during and after school hours.
• Maintains an organized and workable inventory of all music and equipment related to the choralprogram.
• Plans and schedules all necessary practices related toprogram.
• Recommends the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as necessary.
• Works closely with supervisor in scheduling all performances and necessary travel details.
• Creates and maintains a budget for the year in coordination with the principal.
• Overseesallfund-raisingactivitiesandcoordinateseffortsofallboosterclubstoensurecompliancewithallbookkeepingstandards.
• Plans for transportation arrangements in coordination with the principal for allperformances
• Ensures eligibility of all performingstudents.
• Must deliver the required curriculum in accordance with the standards expected of the Alabama Department of Education
• Other duties as may be assigned by the principal

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boaz City Board of Education.
