Overview

Position:
Alternate Transport Service (ATS) Driver – responsible for operating a non‑medical transportation vehicle and transporting wheelchair‑bound patients.

• Inspect the wheelchair vehicle at the beginning and end of each shift according to established procedures.
• Complete vehicle check‑off each shift.
• Report needed repairs and other issues to supervisor or support personnel.
• Safely transport patients and riders.
• Maintain an accurate daily transport log.
• Complete and submit paperwork for each transport, including paper or computer‑based forms.
• Collect payments when indicated, generate receipts, and submit payment with paperwork to supervisor or designee at shift end.
• Have full knowledge of the vehicle’s equipment and use it properly at all times.
• After each call, return the vehicle to service.
• Use radio/phone to communicate from the vehicle to the Communications Center.
• Assist with departmental orientation of new employees.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information unless required to disclose per company policy.
• Adhere to personal ethics that reflect well on the position.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• High school completion or GED.
• AHA Basic Life Support Provider or equivalent.
