About the Opportunity

Ashton North has been retained to identify an experienced Accounts Payable Manager for a rapidly growing, private equity‑backed infrastructure services organization headquartered in South Florida.

Our client is experiencing significant expansion through both strategic acquisitions and sustained organic growth. As the organization continues to scale, they are investing in stronger financial processes, modern systems, and operational excellence to support their next stage of growth.

Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will provide leadership for the Accounts Payable function across a multi‑entity organization. The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee daily operations, develop and mentor the team, strengthen internal controls, improve processes, and help build the scalable accounting infrastructure necessary to support continued expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day‑to‑day Accounts Payable function across multiple operating companies.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop an Accounts Payable team while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee high‑volume invoice processing, vendor payments, ACH transactions, wire transfers, and weekly payment cycles.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor and subcontractor invoices while maintaining strong financial controls and compliance.
  • Partner with Accounting during month‑end and year‑end close activities, including AP accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting support.
  • Review vendor statements, AP aging reports, and outstanding liabilities to resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with W‑9 documentation, 1099 reporting, lien waivers, vendor records, and payment‑related regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Procurement, Project Management, and Finance leadership to improve workflows and support business objectives.
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for automation, streamlining workflows, and optimizing ERP utilization.
  • Support the integration of newly acquired businesses into standardized Accounts Payable processes and internal controls.
  • Help establish scalable Accounts Payable policies and procedures that support future organizational growth.
Qualifications Required
  • Five or more years of progressive Accounts Payable experience.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing an Accounts Payable team.
  • Experience working in high‑volume, ERP‑driven accounting environments.
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable operations, accrual accounting, month‑end close, and internal controls.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a changing organization where priorities evolve as the business continues to grow.
Preferred
  • Experience with in construction, infrastructure services, industrial services, engineering, manufacturing, or other project‑based industries.
  • Multi‑entity accounting experience.
  • Experience supporting organizations that have grown through acquisitions.
  • Experience working within a private‑equity‑backed organization.
  • Experience with Sage CRE 300, Timber Scan, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP, or similar enterprise ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated career stability with progressive advancement and a history of long‑term contributions to previous employers.
