A well-established private equity real estate investment firm is seeking a Tax Accountant to join its growing in-house tax department. The firm has been investing in and operating commercial real estate throughout the United States for decades and offers employees the opportunity to build long-term careers within a collaborative and highly professional environment. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career accounting professional looking to develop technical tax expertise while working alongside experienced tax professionals.
The role provides hands-on exposure to federal and state tax compliance, entity taxation, and a diverse real estate portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns for various entity structures, including partnerships, LLCs, corporations, and trusts.
- Prepare tax work papers, supporting schedules, and related documentation.
- Assist with multi-state tax compliance, estimated payments, and tax filings.
- Support tax research projects and monitor changes in tax legislation.
- Respond to tax notices and assist with gathering documentation for taxing authorities.
- Work closely with senior tax professionals on compliance projects and special initiatives.
- Assist with maintaining organized tax records and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to obtain information necessary for tax reporting.
- Participate in process improvements and departmental projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.
- One to two accounting or tax internships and/or up to one year of professional accounting or tax experience preferred.
- Internship experience within public accounting is highly desirable.
- CPA eligibility or plans to pursue the CPA preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
