Collections Specialist

Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join a growing team in Boca Raton, FL. The Collections Specialist will be responsible for managing outstanding accounts, communicating with customers regarding past-due balances, resolving billing discrepancies, and helping maintain accurate accounts receivable records.

Responsibilities

+ Manage a portfolio of accounts and monitor outstanding and past-due balances

+ Contact customers via phone and email regarding outstanding invoices and payment status

+ Review accounts receivable aging reports and prioritize collection efforts

+ Research and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, disputes, and account issues

+ Negotiate payment arrangements and follow up on payment commitments

+ Maintain detailed documentation of collection activities and customer communications

+ Reconcile customer accounts and research unapplied or missing payments

+ Partner with Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Sales, and Customer Service teams to resolve account issues

+ Escalate severely delinquent or high-risk accounts as appropriate

+ Assist with month-end accounts receivable reporting and account cleanup

+ Maintain positive customer relationships while effectively collecting outstanding balances

Requirements

Qualifications

+ 2+ years of collections, accounts receivable, or related accounting experience preferred

+ Business-to-business collections experience is a plus

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Excellent customer service and negotiation skills

+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

+ Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a deadline-driven environment

+ Comfortable researching and resolving account discrepancies

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Excel

+

Experience with accounting, collections, or ERP software preferred

+ High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus
