Position Summary
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Business Consultant in Boca Raton, FL. Your role will be to provide specialized consulting and advisory services to small businesses seeking to market their products and services to the Department of Defense, other federal agencies, state and local government agencies. You will serve businesses located in Palm Beach and Broward County.
Responsibilities- Client Consulting & Advisory – Provide one‑on‑one consulting to small business owners on selling to federal, state and local government agencies and prime contractors regionally through face‑to‑face meetings, phone, email, and web‑conferencing. Assist clients in identifying contracting opportunities, educating them about government contracting and required registrations, certifications, and marketing to government agencies. Help clients respond to RFPs, RFQs, and IFBs; provide post‑award support;
and provide research and information to facilitate government contract acquisition. - Relationship Development & Outreach – Work with regional economic development providers and governmental purchasing representatives to develop working relationships to better serve small businesses, and develop and implement an outreach program of targeted communication to the local business community.
- Workshops & Training – Design and deliver workshops, webinars, and training sessions on government procurement topics.
- Program Support & Reporting – Maintain detailed notes in the SBDC CRM platform (Salesforce) and track and report government contracting impact secured by clients. Support SBDC/APEX grant reporting requirements by documenting client successes and outcomes.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) – Provide 1,140 hours of confidential, one‑on‑one consulting services to SBDC small business clients annually; achieve government contracts acquired for a minimum of 30% of the annual goal; serve 113 unique clients.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
- Five years of relevant experience in government contracting or related fields.
- Strong understanding of government contracting processes, registration requirements, and certification programs.
- Salary: $70,000 per year.

Hours:
Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
