An organization is conducting asearch for a hands-on Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations supporting a multi-state workforce.

This role sits offers the opportunity to step into a stable, growing organization with strong infrastructure and a collaborative HR and Finance partnership model.

The Payroll Manager will oversee end-to-end payroll operations for approximately 1,000 employees across multiple locations nationwide. This is a highly visible, operational leadership role requiring both technical payroll expertise and strong cross-functional partnership.

The ideal candidate brings deep ADP experience, strong audit discipline, and a continuous improvement mindset to modernize and strengthen payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee biweekly multi-state payroll in a hands-on leadership capacity
  • Manage full-cycle payroll processing and supervision of one Payroll Analyst
  • Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and strong internal audit controls
  • Maintain state filing compliance and reconciliation integrity
  • Partner with Finance on monthly reporting and payroll analytics
  • Lead 401(k) and Workers’ Compensation audits and support external auditors
  • Leverage ADP reporting tools and advanced Excel for analysis and reconciliation
  • Extract and present payroll metrics with strong data integrity
  • Drive process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives
  • Support decentralized data entry while strengthening centralized controls
Qualifications
  • Proven experience managing multi-state payroll operations
  • Strong expertise in ADP Workforce Nowrequired
  • Time & Attendance system experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of vacation, sick leave, and wage/hour regulations
  • Experience processing hourly payroll including shift differentials and variable pay
  • Exposure to commission-based compensation structures
  • Strong customer-service mindset with ability to support field operations
  • Self-directed, accountable, and solutions-oriented professional
