Chief Grants Officer
The Chief Grants Officer is responsible for leading Fuller Center's grant strategy, execution, and compliance, ensuring the organization secures, manages, and successfully delivers on all grant-funded initiatives.
This role oversees the full lifecycle of grant funding—from prospecting and proposal development to reporting, compliance, and renewal—with a strong emphasis on accuracy, accountability, and measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Grant Strategy & Planning
- Develop and lead Fuller Center's grant funding strategy aligned with organizational goals
- Build and manage a multi-year pipeline of foundation, corporate, and government grants
- Identify and prioritize opportunities that align with program capacity and impact
- Partner with leadership to establish and track grant revenue targets
- Oversee all stages of the grant process:
- Prospecting
- Proposal development and submission
- Award management
- Reporting and renewal
- Ensure all submissions are high-quality, timely, and aligned with organizational messaging
- Maintain a centralized grants calendar and tracking system
- Lead development of grant proposals, including:
- Narrative writing
- Program alignment (in partnership with program leadership)
- Budget development (in coordination with Finance)
- Coordinate across departments to ensure proposals are accurate, compelling, and compliant
- Translate program outcomes into clear, data-driven narratives
- Ensure near 100% on-time and accurate submission of all grant reports
- Track and manage all grant deliverables, including:
- Performance metrics
- Required documentation
- Outcome reporting
- Partner with internal teams to ensure data accuracy and audit readiness
- Identify and address compliance risks proactively
- Support all external audits, monitoring visits, and funder reviews
- Work with program leadership to define and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Ensure grant-funded programs demonstrate measurable outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Educational progress
- Family engagement
- Program participation and retention
- Align grant reporting with broader organizational reporting to leadership, board, and funders
- Maintain strong relationships with funders, including:
- Foundations
- Government agencies
- Corporate partners
- Serve as the primary point of contact for grant-related communication
- Position Fuller Center for renewals and long-term funding opportunities
- Develop and maintain efficient systems for:
- Grant tracking
- Reporting workflows
- Documentation standards
- Improve internal processes to increase:
- Efficiency of submissions
- Accuracy of reporting
- Cross-department coordination
- Train staff on grant requirements and documentation expectations
- Required:
- 7–10+ years of experience in grant development and management
- Proven success securing large-scale grant funding (six- and seven-figure awards)
- Strong knowledge of grant compliance and reporting requirements, including government funding
- Experience working across program, finance, and leadership teams
- Excellent writing, analytical, and organizational skills
- Preferred:
- Experience in early childhood education, youth development, or human services
- Familiarity with Florida funding streams (e.g., ELC, CDBG, state/federal programs)
- Experience building or scaling a grants function
- Knowledge of data tracking and outcome measurement systems
