Company

Summary:

Blue Team is a US-based provider of national disaster recovery, remediation, reconstruction, renovation, and roofing services for commercial properties. Our core business focuses on cleanup and mitigation efforts for recovery from fire damage, roof leaks, flooding, pipe bursts, and post-disaster remediation due to severe weather. We exclusively serve commercial sectors including hospitality, senior housing, healthcare, commercial offices, municipalities, multifamily living, and institutional markets.

Summary

We are seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator who thrives in a team-based environment, understands the nuances of pricing renovation work in diverse markets, and is eager to help refine how we estimate, source, and deliver value.

This role is not about working in isolation. It is about contributing to an integrated estimating team that partners closely with field operations, project management, and vendor networks. Estimators at Blue Team are part of the solution—not just calculators of cost. This position includes periodic travel to evaluate jobsite conditions, vet subcontractors, and inform constructability assumptions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical estimating skills, fluency in industry-standard tools, and the interpersonal grit to extract pricing from reluctant vendors, clarify scopes, and build pricing logic when details are incomplete.

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Perform detailed takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial interior and exterior renovation projects
  • Evaluate architectural drawings, narratives, specifications, and site photos
  • Develop estimates using structured templates and software tools such as Plan Swift, STACK, Pro Est, or On-Screen Takeoff
  • Coordinate with field personnel and project directors to confirm site logistics, phasing, and risk assumptions
  • Lead outreach to subcontractors and vendors to gather pricing, clarify scopes, and perform bid leveling
  • Manage bid communications and ITB workflows through Pantera’s Integrated Plan Room platform
  • Analyze and compare vendor proposals; prepare clarifications and inclusions/exclusions as needed
  • Assemble pre-bid packages including schedules, scope narratives, and pricing breakdowns
  • Support project handoff meetings and ensure alignment between estimate and field execution
  • Re-engage post-award as needed to support budget alignment, scope clarification, or change orders
  • Contribute to process improvement, data standardization, and cost history development
  • Maintain open lines of communication with client stakeholders during the bid process, ensuring shared understanding of scope, risks, and pricing logic to promote trust and alignment.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction systems, sequencing, and vendor trade scopes
  • Proficient in at least one industry-standard estimating platform (Plan Swift, STACK, Pro Est, OST, etc.)
  • Experience using Pantera (or a similar ITB platform such as Pipeline) preferred
  • Strong Excel and Bluebeam skills required; experience with Excel-integrated takeoff workflows a plus
  • Able to read and interpret construction documents, perform independent quantity surveys, and identify scope gaps
  • Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered
  • Minimum 3 years of commercial renovation estimating experience, ideally in both interiors and exteriors
Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
