Job Description
Manages projects against plans to ensure budget, schedule, and quality are met and projects are completed as per design requirements/specifications. Develops project completion plans and timelines to meet customer expectations and deliver critical project components. Establishes project responsibilities matrices in partnership with leadership team including lower level/functional superintendents, craft foremen, project managers, subcontractors, and vendors. Ensures safety standards and regulations are followed and required reporting is completed.
Reviews, negotiates, and approves change orders. Develops and implements plans for project completion and turnover. Engages with the firm’s management, clients, and subcontractors in open communication regarding all areas of project completion. Advises concerned stakeholders regarding project status including construction challenges, delays, supply chain issues, and/or start‑up issues.
Partners with engineering, estimating, and planning team members to ensure work complies with firm standards and client requirements. Leads programs and processes to create and maintain strong client relationships with staff on job sites. Leads meetings with clients to conduct project planning and to resolve issues that arise during project completion. Manages the day‑to‑day activity of all construction project staff. Provides feedback on performance appraisals.
Manages the training and development of staff. Approves paid time off (PTO) requests and ensures human resources policies are followed.
Serves as a mentor to junior superintendents, general foremen, and construction specialists/managers. For those supervising union employees – ensures that all performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner per union contracts, and reviews, approves and/or rejects promotions for union staff. Leads quality control inspections and reviews of plans and specifications for quality assurance. Pulls construction permits. Manages project‑related documentation including coding invoices for job costing, preparing project status and progress reports, and other project‑related paperwork.
Ensures all safety documentation is completed and filed according to regulations and company policies. Maintains daily project logs. Performs other duties as required.
High school diploma or equivalent. 10 years of related experience with at least 4 of those years in construction management/supervision. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Driver's License RequirementsAn appropriate and valid driver’s license is required.

Skills and AbilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills. Advanced Microsoft Office skills and advanced ability to use construction‑specific accounting or project management software. Expert knowledge of construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, etc. Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering drawings. Advanced leadership capacity overseeing field crews (preferably those working on infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, dams, water/wastewater treatment plants, etc.).
Excellent ability to identify and quickly troubleshoot problems and issues within a construction environment.
