Title & Description

The Assistant Curator position is a full-time (40 hours per week) professional role within the Curatorial Department. It supports the museum’s exhibition program, collection development, research initiatives, and cross-departmental programming. Reporting directly to the Chief Curator, the role is designed for a highly skilled researcher and communicator capable of contributing to both scholarly and public-facing museum work.

The position combines curatorial authorship, project coordination, and institutional collaboration. The Assistant Curator will participate in exhibition development, contribute to collection interpretation, manage curatorial logistics, and help shape public engagement strategies. The role also includes opportunities to independently curate exhibitions, develop interpretive content, and contribute to fundraising and acquisition processes.

Position & Tasks Exhibitions
  • Coordinate “Art on BRiC Walls” annual juried exhibition with the City of Boca Raton
  • Assist with research for internally developed exhibitions
  • Support logistics and project management for exhibitions (internal and external)
  • Curate original exhibitions and installations (level of autonomy varies by experience)
  • Collaborate on digital exhibition content for Bloomberg Connects
  • Contribute to youth and adult exhibition programming with Learning & Engagement team
  • Deliver docent training for internally curated exhibitions
  • Participate in public programs such as “Art in Focus” talks
Collections
  • Write object labels, descriptions, and interpretive content
  • Support collection database management and archival organization
  • Conduct research on potential acquisitions and donations
  • Present findings in internal collection review meetings
  • Participate in gallery/studio visits and Collections Committee meetings
  • Assist in grant writing under the supervision of Chief Curator
  • Build relationships with artists, stakeholders, and museum members
  • Support Advancement Department initiatives
Outreach & Communications
  • Develop “Work of the Week” collection highlights
  • Coordinate with Social Media team for exhibition content strategy
  • Promote exhibitions to stakeholders and community groups
  • Support public communication of collection and exhibition activities
