Assistant Director of Orchestras

This individual serves as the Assistant Director of Orchestras, fulfilling all assistant director duties for Lower, Middle, and Upper School Orchestra classes. This position provides support for all concerts, organizes extracurricular events (e.g., Strings Club), teaches sectional instruction, and provides one‑on‑one instruction as needed.
Responsibilities- Co‑teach Grade 4 Exploratory Music Class, Grade 5 Orchestra, Middle School Intermediate Orchestra, and Upper School Orchestra.
- Teach up to two orchestra classes.
- Collaborate with the Director of Orchestras to develop and implement the curriculum, including overseeing repertoire selection.
- Create orchestra course documentation as determined by divisional expectations, working to vertically align curriculum.
- Conduct and organize orchestra student participation at extracurricular events as directed by the Director of Performing Arts, including chapel performances and special Admissions or Advancement events.
- Provide sectional instruction for all LS, MS, and US Orchestras.
- Assist with Lower School instrument pickup and supervise Lower School students during class transitions.
- Assist with instrument tuning at the start of each class.
- Assist with restoration and organization of Orchestra room and storage areas.
- Serve as an advisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Performing Arts.
Saint Andrew’s School may, at its discretion, modify or adjust the position to meet the school’s changing needs.
Qualifications- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
Master’s degree preferred. - At least three years of teaching in an independent school or equivalent experience.

- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Clear written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and for the majority of the work day. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds.
