Summary:

The College of Arts and Sciences is currently accepting applications for the position of Instructor in the Dialogues of Justice and Civic Life. The Dialogues is an internationally recognized, innovative, and interdisciplinary core curriculum that blends collaborative in-class activities with real world experience. The college seeks applicants whose academic and practical experience align strongly with Justice and Civic Life and the discipline of Criminal Justice.

The successful applicant will teach assigned courses on campus in Boca Raton, Florida. On campus undergraduate classes are conducted Monday through Thursday in 2.5-hour class sessions, offered in four-week terms. The anticipated start date for the position is January 2027.

Job Description:

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Instruct a 4/4 course load on campus in accordance with college guidelines. This may include but is not limited to engaging with the college’s assessment program of student performance, providing timely student feedback, submission of university reports, and thoughtful contribution to initiatives related to the enhancement of teaching effectiveness.
  • Engage in ongoing scholarly activity and research via publications, conference presentations, and/or leadership in professional organizations or associations.
  • Involvement in service to the university community. The university places strong emphasis on faculty commitment to service opportunities such as membership on committees and taskforces, assistance with student activities, support for admission goals, and mentorship of students.
  • Actively participate in professional development programs offered by the university’s committee for Faculty Standards and Professional Development and seek additional opportunities via appropriate organizations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Candidates must be proficient with using technology for instructional delivery via learning management systems (e.g. Canvas) and presentation software.
  • Candidates must have an appreciation of different learning styles to incorporate into their instructional delivery.
  • Candidates must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates must have collaborative professionals willing to engage in leadership activities that advance the interests of the college
Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates must have an earned master’s degree in a discipline or closely related field appropriate for the position. Disciplines appropriate for this position may include criminal justice, law enforcement, criminology, corrections, victimology, forensic investigations, or emerging technologies in criminal justice (e.g., artificial intelligence or predictive policing).
  • All degrees must have been completed at a regionally accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience teaching at a college or university level.
