Job Summary:

The Principal Mechanical Engineer researches, plans, designs, develops, analyzes, and tests a variety of mechanical equipment items and systems, including chassis, hardware assembly, installation hardware, and installation design.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

• Ability to apply practical engineering science, design, and technology.
• Understanding of current manufacturing processes and how they relate to design.
• Conceptualize, design, and oversee fabrication of efficient complex mechanical systems and analyze for manufacturability and cost.
• Be able to understand and produce engineering drawings.
• Create procedures for carrying out various mechanical testing.
• Communicate changes in design and assembly with management and production staff.
• Estimate cost to produce design, including material and labor costs (assembly and fabrication).
• Calculate mechanical requirements to meet system design specifications.
• Understanding of static and dynamic events and how they relate to structural integrity.
• Ability to design electronic packages for harsh environments and maintain required reliability.
• Basic understanding of electronic circuits and their effect on mechanical performance.
• Working knowledge of techniques to mitigate EMI issues.
• Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience/Knowledge & License/Certification:

• PhD is optional
• A master’s degree is optional
• A bachelor's degree is required
• Training Pre-requisites (Within One Year of Taking Position):
• ESD
• Safety Training, as dictated by the Safety Department

Skills and Abilities:

• 3D Engineering analysis tools. (ANSYS/Solidworks Simulation etc.).
• Microsoft Office, including the use of Excel and an engineering tool.
