The Wellfield Supervisor is a critical position ensuring the efficient and sustainable use of groundwater for potable water production. Duties include performing complex technical work, supervising assigned staff and participating in the operation and maintenance of the wellfield and related equipment. The role also involves monitoring and analyzing wellfield performance data and providing technical guidance to operations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager.

* Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of the wellfield and related equipment.

* Serves as the primary supervisor of the staff assigned, exercising full responsibility for planning, assigning, directing, and adjusting daily and long-term work priorities.

* Monitors wellfield data and performance to determine efficient and sustainable use of the wellfield.

* Plans, assigns, and oversees the work of the assigned staff, ensuring tasks are completed effectively and in accordance with operational standards.

* Ensures staffing levels are maintained; approves schedules, overtime, and leave to maintain adequate coverage for the wellfield maintenance team.

* Evaluates employee performance, conducts formal performance reviews, and provides coaching, discipline, and corrective action consistent with City policies.

* Develops, implements, and enforces operating procedures, work standards, and performance expectations for the wellfield maintenance team.

* Creates, distributes, and closes work orders, ensuring tasks are properly assigned, completed, and documented by staff.

* Reviews and generates wellfield Preventive Maintenance Compliance reports.

* Determines needed repairs and develop costs estimates.

* Orders parts, materials, tools, and equipment as required.

* Manages the wellfield maintenance budget, including recommending purchases, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

* Conducts and monitors drawdown testing and Silt Density Index (SDI) on wells.

* Ensures adherence to all regulatory requirements related to the wellfield and raw water supply wells.

* Manages the contracts and wellfield contractors as required to perform maintenance and repairs of the raw water supply wells.

* Ensures adherence to all regulatory requirements related to the storm water pump stations.

* Manages the inspections, maintenance and repairs of the storm water pump stations.

* Monitors and manages as needed landscaping services and security fencing around wells and storm water pump stations.

* Participates in hiring decisions, including interviewing candidates and making recommendations regarding selection, promotion, discipline, and termination that carry significant weight.

* Decides how to manage the team, set priorities, and solve problems during daily work.

Knowledge of:

* Water production wellfield equipment, pumps, motors, well screens and casings, flowmeters, instruments, gauges, and related equipment.

* Regulations and industry-specific standards related to wells, well fields, and related equipment.

* Documentation and reporting requirements for regulatory compliance.

* Occupational hazards and appropriate safety measures related to wellfield operation and maintenance.

* Drawdown testing, Silt Density Index (SDI) and Specific Capacity as it relates to Well performance.

Skilled in:

* Negotiating of engineering scopes related to technical aspects the wellfield(s) and the operational efficiency of the system

* Coordinating and delegating work assignments to ensure efficient workflow and task completion.

* Evaluating and interpreting data from engineering studies

* Planning, conducting, and evaluating wellfield operations to identify problems within the wellfield

* Analyzing wellfield production data to ensure proper operation and forecast maintenance and other related work of the wellfield.

* Proficient in trouble shooting wellfield non-compliance and recommending corrective actions.

* Designing and implementing training programs for wellfield production mechanics, ensuring knowledge of best practices, quality standards, and safety protocols and learned.

* Identifying potential risks in operating wells and within the wellfield including recommending corrective actions.

Ability to:

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, subordinates, contractors, and engineers.

* Effectively communicate expectations and performance standards to staff.

* Plan, assign, and review the work of subordinate employees.

* Oversee the operation of the wellfield, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

* Handle multiple tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex regulatory and technical information clearly.

* Critically assess wellfield data for accuracy, reliability, and compliance, ensuring data integrity.
