Job Description
CDM Smith is looking for an eager candidate to join our team in Boca Raton, FL. This dynamic role entails a variety of duties based on project type and timeline, providing technical, field, and site administration support.
- Assist in reviewing documents, preparing deliverables, and participating in pre‑bid site visits during the pursuit phase.
- Determine total project costs by evaluating complex proposals and researching labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Develop a preliminary schedule for engineering and construction.
- Create General Conditions based on bidding documents, including required staff, temporary facilities, security, and safety measures.
- Coordinate with the project team, subcontractors, client, owners, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and safe project completion.
- Ensure the timely arrival and installation of materials and equipment with field personnel and vendors.
- Prepare and review submittals of increasing complexity, issue construction documents and layouts to field crews, answer questions, and complete requests for information (RFI).
- Supervise and direct overall project activities of basic to moderate complexity and interpret specifications and drawings for foremen and superintendents.
- Conduct inspections to maintain Quality Control (QC) reporting for project sites.
- Work with Health and Safety professionals to evaluate safety performance metrics of subcontractors and vendors as part of the procurement process.
- Assist in project close‑out: complete contract‑required deliverables, close out subcontract and purchase orders, develop final record drawings and as‑built documents, and ensure client satisfaction.
- After appropriate training, collaborate with the project manager and VDC team to develop project capability needs and VDC plans using BIM and traditional methods.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• 1 year of related experience (or equivalent directly related experience in lieu of a degree).
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; the frequency is contingent on specific duties and project demands.

Skills and Abilities- Ability to identify problems and discrepancies, independently conduct research and analysis of causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Proficient computation and time‑management skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with technology typically associated with engineering and construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction and engineering documents and drawings.
- Basic knowledge of construction industry terminology.
- Knowledge of contract specifications, quality plans, design and construction submittals, and drawings.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
- Strong organizational skills.
