Position OverviewThe Tax Director will oversee complex tax engagements from planning through completion, provide strategic tax advisory services, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients. This individual will play a key role in managing client relationships, mentoring team members, ensuring technical excellence, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice.
Key Responsibilities- Review and oversee federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and related entities
- Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services to closely held businesses and high-net-worth clients
- Conduct tax research and develop strategic solutions to complex tax matters
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while maintaining quality, profitability, and timelines
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication
- Establish engagement budgets, timelines, and resource allocation plans
- Mentor, coach, and develop tax professionals across various experience levels
- Collaborate with firm leadership on operational initiatives, process improvements, and practice development
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance with evolving tax laws and standards
- Oversee engagement workflow, billing, collections, and overall client satisfaction
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field
- CPA license required
- Master's degree in Taxation preferred
- Significant public accounting experience with progressive leadership responsibilities
- Deep technical expertise in individual, partnership, and corporate taxation
- Strong tax planning, compliance, and consulting experience
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated success developing client relationships and leading teams
