Role Overview

VIVA Psychotherapy is seeking a dedicated Master's-level intern for the  &  academic year. This position is designed for students currently enrolled in a Master's program in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology who are looking to gain hands‑on experience in a private practice setting. You will work under the direct supervision of a Licensed Mental Health Counselor to provide high‑quality care to a diverse client population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a small, curated caseload of individual adult, adolescent and children clients
  • Conduct initial biopsychosocial assessments for new clients
  • Complete progress notes and treatment plans in a timely manner using our EHR system
  • Participate in weekly individual and group supervision sessions to review cases and refine clinical techniques
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director on community outreach initiatives and psycho educational content
  • Develop a "Special Project" (e.g., a support group or workshop) based on your specific clinical interests
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and internal training on topics such as CBT, Trauma‑Informed Care, and Ethics
Qualifications Required
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Master's program (Clinical Mental Health Counseling, MSW, etc.)
  • Completion of foundational coursework in Ethics and Counseling Theories
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to cultural humility
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a supportive clinical environment
Preferred
  • Fluency in Portuguese or Spanish is a significant plus, as we serve a large multicultural community
  • Previous experience in mental health or healthcare setting (volunteer or work experience)
  • Interest in working with diverse populations including children, adolescents, and adults
  • Special interest in cross‑cultural counseling or immigrant populations
