Director of Design and Construction - Boca Raton, FL.

Overview

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Director of Design and Construction at Boca Raton. This role encompasses leadership of the Design and Construction department with oversight of all capital construction, renovations, and minor projects across FAU campuses.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, direct, and coordinate the operations of the Design and Construction department with oversight for all capital construction, renovations, and minor projects at all FAU campuses.
  • Ensure assigned resources meet with departments requesting construction/renovation services and advise on design requirements, compliance, budgets, and schedules.
  • Collaborate with internal and external constituents to develop project schedules and needs; ensure timely review of project schedules, construction documents during design, and related documents during construction.
  • Provide oversight, review, and direction to department staff to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Empower staff to perform duties professionally in accordance with System policies and expectations.
  • Develop and review all architectural and engineering programs for the physical facilities.
  • Create and develop drawings and specifications for renovations and minor repairs to existing facilities.
  • Supervise the work and assignments of professional and clerical Design and Construction staff.
  • Participate in the review and/or selection of professional service and construction management consultants.
  • Review and approve Facilities Management documents and contracts, including professional services/construction management contracts and related proposals.
  • Provide monthly reports on the status of minor and major projects.
  • Keep current with codes, standards, and industry practices through ongoing education and professional engagement.
  • Ensure effective close out of all projects with appropriate documentation and filing.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience.

Salary

$140,000 - $150,000 per year.

Work Days and Hours

Monday - Friday, 8 a.m.

- 5 p.m. Occasional nights and weekends as needed.
