Performs professional-level work involving the planning, coordination, and supervision of recreation programs, staff, and operations at a community recreation center. Responsibilities include program development, budget administration, facility scheduling, staff supervision, and public engagement. Supervision is exercised over full- and part-time employees. Work is performed under general supervision with considerable independence, initiative, and responsibility.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and supervise recreational programs and activities at the Recreation Center; enforce Center policies and maintain order.
- Schedule and supervise Center staff for daily operations, programs, and special events.
- Train staff, assign work, and evaluate employee performance.
- Collect and process fees for instructors, special events, and private facility rentals.
- Administer the Recreation Center budget; prepare program and Center budgets; monitor and control expenditures.
- Purchase supplies and equipment in accordance with budget and operational needs.
- Schedule, organize, and maintain records for room usage and other Center activities.
- Prepare permits and facility usage agreements.
- Develop new programs and services to meet community needs.
- Establish community partnerships and recruit instructors.
- Determine program fees and schedules.
- Prepare promotional materials and press releases to promote recreational activities.
- Coordinate and promote recreational activities and special events.
- Manage the Recreation Department’s registration software system, including user access, staff training, data accuracy, and system updates.
