Job DescriptionThe New Grad Direct Patient Care Registered Nurse – NG DPC RN is a licensed professional able to demonstrate the following proficiency of core competencies: assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, planning, intervention, evaluation, flexibility, organizational skills, professional accountability, leadership, and service, who delivers patient-family‑centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing and promoting evidence‑based practice standards of quality, safety, and service.
ResponsibilitiesResponsible for providing direct patient care within the cardiovascular step‑down unit, including patient assessment, monitoring, interventions, and documentation. Partner with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans and participate in continuous quality improvement activities. Maintain competency in cardiac monitoring, medication administration, and critical care protocols. Serve as an advocate for patients and families, ensuring high‑quality, compassionate care.
Qualifications- Associate’s degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; additional certifications (PALS, NRP, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy) preferred.
- RNs hired prior to 2/1/2012 (South), 10/1/2017 (Bethesda), 10/1/2023 (Boca), 7/1/2018 (Fishermen’s) are not required to have a BSN to continue in their non‑leadership role as an RN.
- RNs hired after those dates with an Associate’s degree have 3 years from hire date to complete a BSN.
- New Grad DPC RN remains in this job description until deemed competent by department leadership for independent practice.
- As per department standard, any of the following may be required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, or ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card.
Minimum 1 year of acute cardiac step‑down experience. BLS and ACLS required.
