Laboratory Technician Contract to Hire SUMMARY

The Laboratory Technician will support the development of juice-based products by performing testing, handling samples, and maintaining lab operations under the direction of the Senior Product Scientist.

This role operates in both laboratory and office settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and package customer samples: wrap, label, and record details accurately.
  • Calibrate and maintain analytical equipment; document all data.
  • Perform analytical testing on raw ingredients, shelf-life studies, and innovation projects.
  • Prepare both new and existing product samples in alignment with project timelines.
  • Set up evaluation sessions and conduct tastings to ensure flavor profile accuracy.
  • Receive and verify incoming samples; assign them to the correct projects and store properly.
  • Manage inventory of ingredients and maintain supplies in the test kitchen.
  • Assist with food and sample preparation for customer visits.
  • Participate in both internal sensory testing and external consumer (hedonic) tests.
  • Maintain a clean, well-organized laboratory environment.
  • Research trends related to ingredients, products, and emerging technologies.
  • Support long-term projects through sampling, microbiological testing, and sourcing raw materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or 2+ years of lab experience in the food & beverage industry.
  • Hands‑on experience with testing methods including Titratable Acidity, pH, and Brix.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong initiative and problem‑solving skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated creativity and scientific thinking in troubleshooting and process improvement.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
BONUS
  • Experience in a quality or R&D laboratory environment.
  • Microbiological testing experience is a plus.
