Position: Research Associate 2

Position Overview

Research Associate 2 in the Department of Neurology at the University of Miami/UHealth. The position is based in Boca Raton, FL and is a full‑time staff role.

Responsibilities
  • Performs specialized and complex experiments and studies.
  • Participates in the publication of significant research results.
  • Advances expertise through education, training, and research.
  • Writes extramural grants and proposals to secure funding.
  • Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.
  • Weighs and anesthetizes laboratory animals for experiments.
  • Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.
  • Conducts calculations to finalize research test results.
  • Performs photography and dark‑room processing.
  • Participates in training sessions and workshops.
  • Adheres to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguards assets.
Department Specific Functions
  • Work closely with the Director in an interprofessional, transdisciplinary team to provide an outstanding research experience.
  • Conduct rating scales and neuropsychological testing for clinical research studies.
  • Assist in recruitment and retention of research participants.
  • Screen potential participants for eligibility to the study.
  • Refer, advertise, and schedule visits for participant evaluation.
  • Demonstrate critical judgment to maintain the integrity of the research protocol while safeguarding participant safety.
  • Demonstrate appropriate skills for executing research protocols.
  • Assist with the informed‑consent process and educate participants on study requirements.
  • Create and maintain participant charts and coordinate appointments.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain source documentation.
  • Ensure the protocol is followed as approved by the IRB.
  • Interact with participants, faculty, and staff professionally.
  • Perform other related duties and complete projects as assigned.
Core Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
