The Department Of Psychology At Florida Atlantic University Is Seeking A Highly Motivated Full-Time Coordinator Of Research In Boca Raton, Fl.
The Research For Dr. Pehlivanoglu's Lab Investigates Resilience And Vulnerability In Cognitive, Affective, And Social Functioning Across Adulthood And Aging By Employing A Multimethod Approach That Integrates Behavioral Experiments/Surveys With Physiological (E.g., Eye-Tracking) And Neuroimaging (Eeg/Erp, And Fmri) Measures.
This Is A Full-Time, 1-Year Position With The Possibility Of Renewal For A Second Year Based On Performance. The Start Date Is Negotiable. This Position Is Ideal For An Individual Interested In Pursuing Graduate Training In Neuroscience, Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Or A Related Field After Gaining Intensive Research Experience. Applicants Interested In Pursuing Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., Or Other Advanced Research Training Are Especially Encouraged To Apply.
The Coordinator Of Research Will Play A Central Role In Launching A New Research Lab And Will Work Closely With The Principal Investigator On All Aspects Of Research, Including:
- Assisting With The Establishment Of Laboratory Infrastructure And Research Workflows.
- Setting Up, Maintaining, And Troubleshooting Eeg Or Other Research Equipment.
- Developing And Optimizing Eeg Preprocessing And Analysis Pipelines.
- Assisting With Fmri Preprocessing And Analysis Pipelines.
- Programming Behavioral Experiments (E.g., Psychopy, Psychojs, E-Prime, Matlab).
- Participating In Study Design, Project Development, And Interpretation Of Research Findings.
- Managing Research Databases And Ensuring High-Quality Data Organization.
- Assisting With Participant Recruitment, Scheduling, And Testing.
- Supervising And Training Undergraduate Research Assistants.
- Assisting With Statistical Analyses, Data Visualization, And Reproducible Research Workflows.
- Contributing To Manuscript Preparation, Conference Presentations, And Grant-Related Activities.
- Performing General Laboratory Management And Administrative Tasks As Needed.
- Perform Other Job-Related Duties As Assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree From An Accredited Institution In An Appropriate Area Of Specialization;
Or A Bachelor's Degree From An Accredited Institution In An Appropriate Area Of Specialization And Two Years Of Appropriate Experience Required.
Preferred Qualifications /
Skills:
Bachelor's Degree In Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Or A Closely Related Field. Demonstrated Interest In Cognitive And Affective Neuroscience Research, With Familiarity In Research Methods, Data Collection, And Analysis. Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Present Complex Information To Diverse Audiences And Contribute To Scholarly Publications And Presentations. Proven Ability To Work Independently While Managing Multiple Priorities, As Well As Collaboratively Within A Multidisciplinary Research Team.
Experience With One Or More Of The Following Is Highly Desirable:
- Eeg/Erp Data Acquisition, Preprocessing, And Analysis (E.g., Brainvision Systems, Eeglab, Fieldtrip).
- Mri/Fmri Data Preprocessing And Analysis (E.g., Spm, Fsl, Afni).
- Programming And Development Of Behavioral Experiments Using Psychopy, Psychojs, E-Prime, Psychtoolbox, Python, Or Similar Software.
- Research Methods, Experimental Design, And Human Subjects Research.
- Statistical Analysis And Data Visualization Using R/Rstudio, Python, Or Related Software.
- Git/Github, Version Control Practices, And Reproducible Research Workflows.
Salary: $45,000 Annually.
