Performs intermediate park patron service work involving public relations and safe use and enjoyment of District and City parks; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Responsibilities- Patrols park and recreation areas by mobile unit and/or on foot
- Enforces park rules and City ordinances
- Responds to emergencies, including medical incidents, lost persons, and conflicts, and coordinates with police, fire, park staff, and other City departments
- Provides customer service, directions, information, and assistance to park patrons
- Secures parks and facilities as required
- Issues parking citations
- Monitors the security of parked vehicles
- Anticipates and resolves problems in the field
- Documents activities and incidents through accurate written reports
- Renders CPR and first aid assistance when necessary
- Corrects and/or reports conditions involving damage, theft, vandalism, or safety hazards
- May be assigned limited supervisory duties during a shift
- Performs related duties as required
- City park rules, regulations, and applicable ordinances
- Public safety procedures and emergency response protocols, including CPR, first aid, and AED application
- Conflict resolution and de‑escalation techniques

- Work a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with park visitors and guests
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Communicate consistently with the public in a firm and respectful manner
- Work in inclement weather and adverse conditions.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience involving public contact, customer service, outdoor recreation, natural resource protection, or visitor services
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience assisting with rule compliance through visitor education, monitoring, or reporting
- Must have abstained from the use of all tobacco products and electronic cigarettes (e‑cigarettes) for a minimum of one (1) year prior to the date of hire and must continue to abstain from the use of tobacco products and electronic cigarettes throughout the duration of employment with the City, both on and off duty
- Must possess a valid State of Florida Class “E” driver’s license
- Must obtain CPR, First Aid, and Parking Enforcement certifications within six (6) months of appointment
- May be required to patrol park grounds by bicycle and must be able to successfully complete a bicycle operations course
