Senior Backend Java Developer

Job Description

This resource will serve as a backfill supporting a portfolio of existing business-critical Java applications. The majority of the work will focus on maintaining and enhancing current applications, troubleshooting production issues, implementing bug fixes, and supporting ongoing application enhancements. The developer will be responsible for building and maintaining SOAP and REST-based services, collaborating closely with other engineers on application support initiatives, and ensuring code quality through unit testing and documentation.

While most efforts will be maintenance and support focused, there will be opportunities to contribute to new feature development and modernization initiatives. The consultant will also leverage AI-enabled development tools, such as Git Hub Copilot, to improve productivity and delivery efficiency.

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally at the Senior level
• Strong Java development experience with Java 8 and Java 17
• Experience building applications with Spring Boot
• Proficiency working with JBoss, Tomcat, and Enterprise Java technologies (EJBs)
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying SOAP and RESTful web services
• Hibernate experience
• Strong focus on unit testing, code quality, and technical documentation
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools, such as Git Hub Copilot
• Experience with Java Server Faces (JSF) or Java Server Pages (JSP)
• Hands-on experience with Prime Faces component libraries
