SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Senior Staff Accountant’s responsibilities include maintaining financial records and reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with the close processes, maintaining standard costing, performing cost accounting for manufacturing inventory, and serving as backup for bi-weekly payroll processing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, included but not limited to:
  • Prepare journal entries required for payroll into the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system which includes verification of appropriate cost centers and liability accounts for with holdings and insurance.
  • Collaborate closely with the Controller to execute the month-end closing process; proactively identify and resolve discrepancies through detailed research and the preparation of correcting and adjusting journal entries.
  • Manage and audit standard costs within the system of record, ensuring all cost components accurately reflect real-time market pricing and procurement data.
  • Perform pre-production cost analysis, including the development of preliminary Bills of Materials (BOMs) and the calculation of labor and overhead absorption rates for new product initiatives
  • Evaluate the financial implications of proposed engineering or process changes through detailed cost-benefit analysis.
  • Manage and refine fixed and variable cost structures for labor, direct materials, and overhead to ensure precise product costing and margin analysis
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations and analysis of production volumes and cost of goods sold (COGS) to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop quarterly reports deconstructing cost components, including material, labor, and overhead, by product to monitor cost drivers.
  • Manage monthly balance sheet reconciliations and roll-forwards to ensure accuracy, transparency, and full support for all account balances.
  • Support year-end inventory verification procedures, including site observations and reconciliation of physical counts to the perpetual ledger.
  • Coordinate year-end audit deliverables, providing documentation to ensure a seamless year-end audit process.
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and project support to the Controller to enhance departmental efficiency and reporting
  • Backup to Human Resource Manager to process bi-weekly payroll through the HRIS as needed and in a timely manner.
  • Verify timecard records and consult with direct supervisors regarding discrepancies.
  • Adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Comply with Company policies, Quality Management System (QMS), and Standard Operation Procedure (SOPs), etc.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures are implemented and followed;
    Maintain clean and safe work area.
  • Assist as needed in other areas of the Company where training requirements have been completed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in accounting or related financial position.
  • Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, including a deep understanding of inventory valuation, absorption costing, and variance analysis.
  • Proficient in utilizing integrated ERP environments to track real-time manufacturing costs, manage inventory transactions, and streamline month-end closing procedures
  • Deep technical proficiency in U.S. GAAP, ensuring all financial reporting, revenue recognition, and cost accounting practices remain in strict compliance with current standards.
  • Proficient in payroll tax administration, IRS Circular E standards, and relevant HR/employment laws to ensure accurate reporting and regulatory adherence.
  • Demonstrated ability to process complex financial transactions with high attention to detail, maintaining rigorous data integrity to support accurate and timely reporting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Good understanding of U.S. federal tax codes and state sales tax laws, with the ability to manage tax research and maintain compliance across multiple jurisdictions
