Position Summary

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

This position will be at Boerne HS in the Health Science PTECH program and taught in conjunction with San Antonio College (SAC).

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • [Physical Education Teachers:
    Current automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate].
  • Boerne ISD requires all Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and Special Education teachers to have ESL certification. If you do not hold the ESL requirement already, you will be required to obtain it during your 1st year of teaching.
  • Must have a Master's degree in Education (with a focus on teaching), Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work and be vetted by San Antonio College.
  • Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the candidate.

Minimum Requirements to teach PSYC 2301
  • Master’s degree in Psychology or related field; or
  • Master’s degree in any discipline with eighteen (18) graduate hours in psychology.
  • The candidate must be approved by San Antonio College.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual students’ differences.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and assign work to the instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
Student Growth and Development
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
