Pay Grade: Teacher Step Scale

Workdays: 187

Minimum Salary: $60,000

Type of Assignment: Exempt

Contract Status: Chapter 21

Funding: This position is locally funded.

Salary based on the Boerne ISD Teacher Step Scale. Consideration for directly related experience supported by an official service record or experience affidavit. Annualized pay may be pro‑rated based on actual start date.

Position Summary

Deliver structured and intentional English language instruction to identified, beginner, and intermediate English Learners (ELs), focusing on vocabulary development, grammar, sentence structure, and foundational English mechanics. Align instruction with state standards for English Language Arts and Reading to support academic achievement. Contribute to campus‑wide initiatives that promote the cognitive, linguistic, and emotional growth of ELs, helping them reach their full potential and preparing them for academic and real‑world success.

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
  • TX Reading Academies Certificate required for K‑3 teachers.
  • Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non‑refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the candidate.

  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Essential Functions /

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the district's curriculum requirements; provide written documentation of preparation as needed. Design lessons that include accommodations for individual student differences.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned and present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and assign work to the instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
