School Psychologist

The School Psychologist performs professional psychological services to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students. This position involves conducting comprehensive psychological and psycho educational assessments to evaluate students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. The School Psychologist collaborates with educators, parents, and other school personnel to design and implement evidence-based interventions, behavioral plans, and support strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, particularly those with emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges.

Eligible for $7,000 Annual Stipend

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in school psychology from an accredited college or university, or graduation from a training program approved by the National Association of School Psychology or accredited by the American Psychology Association
  • Licensure as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years progressive experience in School Psychology or related function.

  • Ability to administer and interpret psychological, intelligence and achievement assessments.
  • Knowledge of K-12 curriculum.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
  • Ability to solve problems, think critically, and manage conflicts.
  • Strong organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge, understanding and skill appropriate to job assignment.
  • Ability to administer and interpret intelligence and achievement assessment instruments.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations pertaining to special education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to include written and verbal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with individuals, and the ability to resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to conduct all activities in accordance with the highest ethical standards.
  • Proficient in Google Drive and Google programs (Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides).
  • Daily attendance at work and punctuality are essential functions of the job.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver, and adapt school psychology services tailored to the specific needs of students.
  • Conduct psychological, academic, and cognitive assessments utilizing district-approved tools and standardized procedures.
  • Compile comprehensive evaluation reports following the district's established reporting format.
  • Provide consultation to school staff regarding instructional interventions, behavioral challenges, and counseling evaluations.
  • Support the planning, implementation, and review of services for students experiencing crises or facing significant emotional/behavioral concerns or who have recently had intervention crisis.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategies designed to guide, manage, and teach appropriate replacement behaviors.
  • Organize, lead, and implement behavior-focused events at both the district and campus levels.
  • Communicate campus needs promptly to the assigned coordinator and program supervisor.
  • Offer ongoing support to school staff to ensure adherence to special education laws and policies at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation relevant to the responsibilities of a School Psychologist.
  • Partner with campus and district staff to promote a unified approach to student success for those receiving special education services.
  • Take part in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, provide interpretation of assessment data and assist in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Share and explain assessment results to relevant school personnel to inform educational planning.
  • Assists in the development and review of district special education policies and procedures and communicates updates and changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
  • Comply with all district routines and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Posture:
Frequent walking, standing, Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Lifting:
Lifting and carrying 10-25 pounds frequently, 25-40 pounds occasionally, more than 45 pounds infrequently with assistance;
Pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically.
