PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHER

Primary Function:
Teach knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual and team sports to students in grades 1–12. Assist in other programs assigned. Provide students appropriate learning activities and experiences to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, and to pass all state required exams.

• Develop and implement lesson plans for the assigned curriculum and use accommodations for individual student differences.
• Work cooperatively with Special Education teachers to modify curricula as needed for Special Education students according to Individual Educational Plan guidelines.
• Implement Fitness Gram and present subject matter in accordance with TEA guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Use appropriate instructional strategies, best practices, activities, materials, and equipment for assigned students, and promote fitness and healthy habits.
• Assess student achievement through formal and informal testing.
• Demonstrate professional, responsible, and ethical behavior.
• Participate in district and campus staff development and faculty meetings. Pursue continued professional development.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, facility members, and community members.
• Manage student behaviors in accordance with board policies, IEPs, BIPs, administrative regulations, facility behavioral programs, and the student code of conduct.
• Remain informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for teachers.
• Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documentation as required.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Position Type:
  Full‑time
• Salary: $56,300 to $72,000 per year

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (Master’s preferred).
• Valid Texas Education Certificate with required endorsements.
• Current Special Education Certification or certification to be completed within a year.
• At least one year of relevant experience (preferred).
• Knowledge of subjects assigned, general curriculum and instruction, and strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage student behaviors.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
