Position SummaryProvide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. This position will teach the Texas Government course at Boerne HS in the Health Science PTECH program and taught in conjunction with San Antonio College (SAC).
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned.
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
- Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non‑refundable fee (~$50) paid by the candidate.
Minimum Requirements to teach GOVT

- Master’s degree in political science or related field; or
- Master’s degree in any discipline with eighteen (18) graduate hours of political science.
- Accepted course disciplines include comparative politics, government, international relations, political economy, politics, public administration, public affairs, public management, and public policy.
- Candidate must be approved by San Antonio College.
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans complying with district curriculum and provide written evidence of preparation.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, equipment, and technology reflecting student learning styles and needs.
- Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Collaborate with special‑education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs.
- Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
- Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers and oversee completion.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Compile, maintain, and file required reports, records, and documents.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Comply with district and campus routines and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Direct the work of assigned instructional aides.
Working Conditions- Standard office and instructional equipment, including a personal computer.
- Posture: prolonged standing, frequent walking, sitting, occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, pushing/pulling, twisting.
- Motion: repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and mouse use, occasional reaching.
- Lifting: occasional light lifting (less than 15 lb) of textbooks and equipment.
- Environment: indoor, may work outdoors; regular exposure to noise.
- Mental Demands: maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions and extended or irregular hours.
